Kae is a Data & Graphics Reporter on Civic News Company's data visuals team, where they collaborate with local reporters to tell data-driven stories about education, voting rights, and health care. Previously, they produced graphics, newsroom tools, and investigative reporting for St. Louis-based radio and print publications. They have contributed data analyses and visualizations to reporting recognized by the Education Writers Association, LION Local Journalism Awards, multiple regional chapters of the Society for Professional Journalists, the Missouri Broadcaster Association, and regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. In 2020, they co-founded the Trans Journalists Association and now serve as President and volunteer, interim Executive Director. They also served on the St. Louis Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists’s board of directors as secretary and a finance committee member from 2017 to 2023.
